Do Drug Crimes Have Statute of Limitations?

In this YouTube Live Event, San Diego criminal defense lawyer Ryan Tegnelia answers an online question about the statute of limitations for drug cases. Charges for drug possession and drug possession with intent to sell have a statute of limitations. Like most felonies in California, the statute of limitations for drug crimes lasts for three years. Criminal charges cannot be filed against you for a drug crime more than three years in the past. Within three years, beyond just an accusation, there would have to be other evidence for the prosecution to consider building a case against you.
